1. Celebrate National Day in Uppsala

On 6 June, Sweden’s National Day is celebrated in several places across Uppsala. At Parksnäckan, Uppsala Municipality hosts celebrations with speeches, music and performances. In the city centre, Forumtorget comes alive with colour during Kulturernas Karneval – a true community celebration filled with dance, music, a carnival parade and family-friendly activities. At Vaksala torg, Vaksalafesten kicks off in the afternoon with free concerts. Artists such as Malena Ernman, Trio X and Labyrinth will take to the stage. For a more traditional celebration, head to the open-air museum Disagården in Gamla Uppsala and enjoy singing, folk musicians and a festive atmosphere in a historic setting.

2. Celebrate Midsummer in Uppsala

It is hard to imagine a more Swedish summer tradition than Midsummer. Hospitalparken in Ulleråker offers a classic celebration with a modern twist – with activities such as flower crown making, dancing around the maypole and pony rides, as well as the chance to get married at a drop-in wedding. At Disagården in Gamla Uppsala, there will be traditional folk music, games and celebrations around the maypole on both Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day. The day before Midsummer, you can make your own Midsummer flower crowns at Forumtorget – a fun activity for all ages.

3. Travel Back to the Viking Age in Gamla Uppsala

In June, Gamla Uppsala is transformed into a living history book during its Viking Age Festival. Watch as Viking groups from around the world gather outside the museum to showcase crafts, costumes and everyday life from the era – and don’t miss the Viking market. The ancient royal burial mounds form a majestic backdrop to the event. Perfect for history lovers and families who want to combine learning with fun.

4. Three Concerts as Superstars Visit the Botanical Garden

Uppsala’s Botanical Garden may be one of the most beautiful settings in the country for a summer concert. For three days in a row, the garden welcomes three different artists performing amid the greenery. On 25 June, Swedish star Magnus Uggla takes to the stage, followed by the pop wonder The Ark on 26 June, before global superstar STING rounds things off on 27 June.

5. Say Yeehaw at Buckle Up Countryfest

Buckle Up Countryfest comes to Uppsala and Fyrishov on 12–13 June 2026. Enjoy two full days of world-class country music. The programme features both Swedish and international country artists, along with activities, competitions, great food and experiences for children and adults alike.
