Uppsala City Garden

stadsträdgården

At the end of the 19th century, the foundations of the beautiful park now known as Stadsträdgården were laid – Uppsala’s very own city park.

The park is open year-round. In spring and summer, it bursts into bloom as the greenery flourishes in the formal flower displays. In the middle of a small water lily pond lies the charming “Island of Bliss”, with inviting seating areas and Uppsala’s smallest work of art (look closely along the ground and you’ll find it!). Not far away, in the heart of the park, you’ll find a large South Pacific-themed playground with plenty of fun things to explore.

In the centre of the park stands Gula Villan (the Yellow Villa), once the home of the city gardener. Today, it’s a cosy summer café where you can sit down, enjoy a coffee and soak up the relaxed atmosphere.

Right by the entrance to the park, you’ll find both the nightclub Flustret and the family-friendly museum Pumphuset. In the southern part of the park is Parksnäckan, a former folk park that now hosts concerts from spring to early autumn. Some of Sweden’s and the world’s top artists perform here, and a variety of children’s and family shows are also arranged.
