1. Celebrate National Day in Uppsala
On 6 June, Sweden’s National Day is celebrated in several places across Uppsala. At Parksnäckan, Uppsala Municipality hosts celebrations with speeches, music and performances. In the city centre, Forumtorget comes alive with colour during Kulturernas Karneval – a true community celebration filled with dance, music, a carnival parade and family-friendly activities. At Vaksala torg, Vaksalafesten kicks off in the afternoon with free concerts. Artists such as Malena Ernman, Trio X and Labyrinth will take to the stage. For a more traditional celebration, head to the open-air museum Disagården in Gamla Uppsala and enjoy singing, folk musicians and a festive atmosphere in a historic setting.
2. Celebrate Midsummer in Uppsala
It is hard to imagine a more Swedish summer tradition than Midsummer. Hospitalparken in Ulleråker offers a classic celebration with a modern twist – with activities such as flower crown making, dancing around the maypole and pony rides, as well as the chance to get married at a drop-in wedding. At Disagården in Gamla Uppsala, there will be traditional folk music, games and celebrations around the maypole on both Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day. The day before Midsummer, you can make your own Midsummer flower crowns at Forumtorget – a fun activity for all ages.
In 2026, Midsummer Eve falls on Friday, 19 June.
