Gongfu tea, or kung fu tea, literally means “making tea with skill.” It is a traditional Chinese method and ceremony for tea serving, where the tea is presented along with various utensils used to create the perfect cup. It’s anything but your ordinary quick dose of caffeine on the go; instead, your drink break becomes a moment of mindfulness. You can try this experience at Yocha Studio, an oasis of Asian tea culture and design shop in one, right in the middle of the pedestrian street in Uppsala.

Bubble tea, on the other hand, is on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to Asian tea culture. This trendy drink, originally from Taiwan, is often served in large to-go cups and its contents are just as they sound – bubbly, sweet, milky tea. Right at the entrance of the Forumgallerian you’ll find the charming Oolong Tea House – grab your drink and sip it while taking a stroll in the mall.

Shotluckan truly puts the experience in the term drinking experience. More often than not, the bar counter is literally on fire, and the bartenders will sometimes dress up in character for your drink order. It’s totally crazy – and a lot of fun! The clientele mostly consists of party-hungry students and young people, who stay all night or are taking a pit stop in their way out into Uppsala’s nightlife. On the menu, you’ll find various fun shots like Raspberry Pie, Harry Shotter, and Bumbiberry Juice (but of course, there are also food options and non-alcoholic drinks to try).

Miss Voon offers spectacular views for your cocktail hour – here you have panoramic views over all of Uppsala. In the bar, skilled bartenders shake some of the city’s best drinks. The guest favorite is called Tonka Sour, a sour vanilla dream with herbal, warm citrus tones consisting of gin, cocoa butter, Tio Pepe, vanilla liqueur, sake with yuzu flavor, black pepper, lemon, and egg white. You can actually see the brewery behind the bar counter – if you’re here on a night when brewing is in progress, you’ll see the brewmaster at work and smell the malt and hops in the air. The cocktail bar 7 Flaskor (7 Bottles) gets its name from serving only 7 types of spirits. The cocktail menu here is very ambitious, creative, and changes with the seasons, but one drink returns year after year. The signature drink that appears just in time for summer is simply called “Strawberries & Cream,” but varies in execution, style, and flavor combinations. Towards spring, there is always a hype about how this year’s version will turn out. However, one can be sure that it will taste delicious, as the team behind this bar and the restaurant Dryck och Mat (Drink and Food) always deliver great taste experiences.
