Excursions to Uppsala’s Outdoor Areas
Leave the city streets behind this Easter break and head out into Uppsala’s beautiful natural surroundings. With plenty of easily accessible green areas, Uppsala is ideal for spring outings full of activities for all ages.
At Fjällnora you can play on the natural playground, go canoeing, hike one of the trails, or visit the animal enclosures. When it’s time for a break, there are barbecue areas where you can enjoy your picnic. Bus 809 stops about 3 kilometers from the area.
In Hammarskog Nature Reserve you’ll find scenic hiking trails, a fun miniature playground, and climbing structures for older kids. The historic manor and its surroundings are perfect for roasting marshmallows at one of the many fire pits. You can get here easily by car or by bus 108.
Right in the city center you’ll find a true enchanted forest in Stadsskogen. This untouched part of the reserve has been left wild since the 1970s. With mossy ground and a dreamy atmosphere, it’s perfect for foraging for mushrooms and berries – or maybe spotting trolls and forest creatures. You can walk, cycle, or take buses 2, 7, or 12 from the city center.
