Uppsala Art Museum presents Following Eugène: A Spring Outing, a new installation by artist Stuart Mayes. Inspired by Eugène Jansson’s landmark 1907 exhibition in Uppsala, the work explores how ideas of the body, identity, desire and social norms are shaped and transformed over time. Through textiles, objects, archival material and immersive spatial installations, Mayes intertwines art history, local history and LGBTQI+ history, inviting visitors to reflect on how the past continues to shape the present. The exhibition moves between documentation and interpretation, creating a thought-provoking contemporary art experience.
