Linné’s Sävja

The Secret Farm Oasis

Linné’s Sävja is a tranquil, nature-filled retreat just south of Uppsala – a destination where history, culture, and nature come together. This is where Carl Linnaeus spent many peaceful moments reflecting, writing, and conversing with the farm steward – a sanctuary where he could withdraw from family life and the pace of the city. On weekends, Linnaeus would lead his students here on botanical walks from Uppsala.

Today, the farmstead with its white heritage buildings is open to visitors. In this idyllic setting, art exhibitions, garden tours, and seasonal events take place throughout the summer months. You’ll also find a herb garden with plants typical of the 18th century, as well as guided tours of the Linné House, where time seems to have stood still.

To deepen your experience, you can combine your visit with other places that follow in Linnaeus’s footsteps – learn more in our guide Carl Linnaeus’s Gardens in Uppsala.
