Enter the world of Peter No-Tail

Gösta Knutsson’s immortal children’s book character Peter No-Tail has naturally been honored with his own playground in his hometown Uppsala – Pelleparken is one of Uppsala’s, and even the country’s, finest playgrounds. In the middle of Carolinaparken, between The English Park and the Carolina Rediviva library, you’ll find this fun tribute to the children’s books about Peter No-Tail. Explore Pelle’s basement and attic, slide down from Gammel-Maja’s cathedral tower, visit Tusse Batong’s police office, “shop” at Råttström’s bakery, take the bus to Skogstibble, and meet all the other well-known cats from the books! During the summer, you can also enjoy a snack and drink a “cate latte” at Alla katters café.

Två barn leker i klosterparken i Uppsala

Medieval park in the heart of the city In the summer of 2020, the creators behind Pelle Svanslös’s playground opened their latest addition to Uppsala’s playgrounds. Right in the city center, just one cross street from Uppsala’s main pedestrian street, you’ll find Klosterparken. The playground has a medieval theme and offers an exciting world of prison towers, infirmaries, market stalls, playhouses, and cool lighting. It’s no coincidence that the choice fell on a medieval world. For several hundred years, an important Franciscan monastery was located on the site, active during the Middle Ages.

Stenhammarsparken – Gottsunda's own South Pacific

Even outside the city center, there are many playgrounds worth a detour – for example Stenhammarsparken in Gottsunda. Everything here is built with the South Pacific in mind: Climb the sea monster or feed the kind shark peeking up from the blue “ocean”. While the children play on the seesaw, climbing frame, and slide, the adults can hang out by the outdoor grill area beside the playground.
