#MyUppsala by Henrik Borg

A Fast Norwegian Pace Between Nature, Golf, and Restaurants

The influencer from Norway unexpectedly found his home in Uppsala – today, Henrik Elvejord Borg has become his generation’s “national Norwegian” across Sweden. On a road trip through Swedish cities with his friend Martin, his new hometown is a must-visit stop – with classic experiences like a tour of the Cathedral and the castle, as well as a deep dive into Uppsala’s excellent culinary scene.

The latter part of Henrik’s 30-year life is well-documented across various reality shows and his social media. He has openly shared his struggles and challenges, such as living with bipolar disorder – but also how incredibly fun, enjoyable, and filled with adventure life can be. It’s genuine. And often hysterically funny.

That this city boy from Oslo ended up in Sweden and Uppsala started when Henrik’s wife, Uppsala native and influencer Lisa Borg, saw him on TV and reached out via social media.

– Suddenly, Lisa had booked a ticket for me to fly to Uppsala, and I came here… Like, ‘boom,’ I had a new hometown, says Henrik with a laugh.

Stadsskogen is a great place for walks and hikes.

Even though the move to Uppsala wasn’t entirely planned, it’s clear that Henrik enjoys representing his new hometown, which he describes as incredibly beautiful. He and Lisa, who are now married, live in Rosendal, an area with exciting architecture, small restaurants and shops, a lot of public art, and much to Henrik’s delight – proximity to nature. Henrik goes to Stadsskogen several times a week.

– I’ve even managed to get Lisa to appreciate the forest as much as I do – a nature-loving Norwegian! The Botanical Garden is another favorite of ours.

Nature, Adventure, and Golf in Uppsala

Henrik is an adventurer at heart, who loves to travel. During the summer of 2024, he was on a road trip through Europe with his friend, TikTok personality Martin Skålander. Their followers laughed and cried with them throughout the trip, and now the duo plans to explore Sweden together during the fall and winter, with Uppsala as a given stop on the agenda. Henrik looks forward to showing his hometown to Martin and introducing him to his favorites during a fall weekend.

As a relatively new, passionate golfer, he’s a bit disappointed that he won’t have time to take Martin to his favorite, Uppsala Golf Club, this time around. On the world’s largest open ranking, the main course here holds an honorable 30th place in Sweden. But Henrik also wants to recommend the club’s smaller course, a Pay-and-Play where you can bring friends who don’t have a green card yet, so they can play too. Hole 2 is his favorite – after a memorable eagle.

So, what’s on the agenda when Henrik shows his hometown to his friend? Stadsskogen, of course, but as a proud Uppsala resident, Henrik also appreciates the city’s beautiful architecture and rich cultural heritage. At Uppsala Castle, with its iconic pink façade and unique art museum, he notes that “Sweden is much better at castles than Norway…”

– And of course you must visit the Cathedral when you’re in Uppsala, no question about it, he says firmly.

At an impressive 118.7 meters, it’s not only one of the largest churches in the Nordics but also home to Sweden’s largest church window and biggest church bell.

After a day filled with cultural experiences, the duo plans to wrap up the evening with dinner at one of Uppsala’s excellent restaurants.

– There are so many great restaurants in Uppsala! Lisa and I often go on dates and eat out. Some favorites are Saluhallen, Jay Fu’s, and Stationen. And Farina for pizza in Rosendal! I’ll probably take Martin on a tour of a few different places.

The plan is to finish with ice cream at the trendy Joey’s Gelato, which Henrik hasn’t had the chance to try yet. Later, after a day on the go, they’ll wrap up with a pop culture outing at the city’s newly opened cinema palace, Filmstaden Luxe. Here, you can sink into comfy sofas, enjoy top-notch sound and lighting, and grab snacks from the lobby, which offers both a bar and a bistro. They haven’t decided on a movie yet – after all, there has to be room for spontaneity and adventure too…
