Lucia is a cherished Swedish tradition celebrated on December 13th, honoring Saint Lucia as a symbol of light and hope during the darkest time of the year, with candlelit processions, singing, and festive treats like saffron buns. Uppsala Castle hosts one of the most unique Lucia celebrations in Sweden. Lucia on the Castle Rooftop features a brave Lucia and her procession, wearing glowing costumes, walking atop the city’s iconic pink castle. The best viewing spot is at Svandammen, just below the castle, and the event is free to attend.
