Floorball and Mondo’s home turf in Gränby
Floorball is one of Uppsala’s most popular sports, especially among children and young people. Most matches are played at IFU Arena, the city’s largest sports venue. Covering 30,000 square metres, the complex houses several halls dedicated to floorball (and athletics). In the main arena, which seats around 3,000 spectators, you can watch the multiple Swedish champions Storvreta IBK take on their local rivals IK Sirius IBK. IFU Arena is also one of the main venues for Storvretacupen, the world’s largest floorball tournament, which every year brings together around 750 junior teams to fill Uppsala’s sports halls for an entire weekend of play.
If you pass by the athletics hall, take a closer look at the pole vault pit — it’s the training ground of world star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, who competes for Upsala IF Athletics. The venue also hosts Mondo Classic, a unique competition where the world’s best pole vaulters meet in a spectacular, show-like setting.
Track and field in Uppsala enjoys outstanding conditions — right next to IFU Arena is the city’s new outdoor athletics stadium, which will host the Swedish Athletics Championships in 2026.
If you’re a hockey fan, you’ll find the best atmosphere live at Gränby Ishall, Uppsala’s classic ice rink. Experience the thrill of fast passes, slap shots, hard tackles, and stunning saves as Almtuna IS, the city’s long-standing team in HockeyAllsvenskan, battles for a coveted spot in the SHL.
