Spanish musical life meets Uppsala when La Valenciana SMPVB visits Vaksala Torg. La Valenciana is a wind orchestra from Barcelona, founded in 2016, bringing together Valencian musicians in Catalonia and carrying the Valencian musical tradition forward. This will be their first visit to Uppsala.
At Vaksala Torg, they will join Swedish champions Uppsala Blåsarsymfoniker for an extraordinary concert, forming an orchestra of no fewer than 120 musicians. Expect powerful wind music in a vibrant Spanish-Swedish spirit, with a repertoire ranging from classical works and Swedish marches to pieces rooted in the heart of the Iberian musical tradition. The audience will also witness a world record attempt as the two orchestras perform a polska by Wilhelm Gelotte together with more than 30 clarinet soloists!
The concert is open to everyone and completely free. Bring the family, find a spot on the square and let the music fill a late-summer afternoon.
