The Botanical Garden

Explore Uppsala University’s botanical garden. Here, research, teaching and conservation of biological diversity go hand in hand with beauty, recreation and education. From Rudbeck, Linnaeus and Thunberg to today’s modern botany.

In the Botanical Garden you will find greenery and flowering plants all year round. In the Tropical Greenhouse, Uppsala’s finest rainforest, there are orchids, banana and coffee plants, but also plants from deserts and other arid areas. The orangery houses cacti, Linnaeus’ laurel trees, figs and olive trees.

During spring, summer and autumn, colourful summer flowers, rare mountain plants, trees, shrubs and appetizing kitchen plants from all over the world attract visitors to take a stroll in the garden.

In the Botanical Garden is home to the gardeners’ hundred-year-old bakery and village cottage, which today houses Café Victoria, one of Uppsala’s foremost summer cafés. During the summer months you can sit outside in the beautiful garden and enjoy both the environment and goodies, the choices among coffee breads and dishes are many. Café Victoria is run by Triller Mat and Bröd and is open from May to September, only outdoor seating.
