Uppsala Castle houses three exciting museums: Uppsala Art Museum, Uppsala Castle Museum, and Vasaborgen. You can also enjoy the city’s best view on a rooftop walk across the castle’s roof.

About Uppsala Castle

Uppsala Castle has been at the heart of both the city’s and the nation’s history ever since King Gustav Vasa began construction in 1549. Dramatic events have unfolded here – from the bloody Sture murders to Queen Christina’s famous abdication. After a devastating fire in 1702, the castle lay in ruins for a long time before being rebuilt. In the 2000s, it also regained its distinctive pink facade. Today, the castle is home to several fascinating museums, a restaurant, and also funtion as a residence of the County Governor.
