Uppsala offers a wide variety of sustainable meeting and conference venues.
You can find all of the city’s meeting locations on the Find a Venue page.
Sustainable Meeting Venues
In autumn 2013, the new multi-purpose halls at Fyrishov were inaugurated. Since then, the venue has employed an environmental manager and implemented a strong environmental focus to meet the expectations of visitors and stakeholders regarding sustainability efforts within the organization.
In February 2014, Fyrishov became Sweden’s first swimming and sports facility restaurant to receive the official Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Later that year, in October 2014, the company was also awarded the CEEP CSR Label for its commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development. Fyrishov has long been proactive in sustainability, with initiatives such as motion-controlled lighting, on-site solar power production, and the use of eco-labelled electricity.
Uppsala Concert & Congress (UKK) opened in autumn 2007. Since its inception, the venue’s restaurant has maintained high environmental standards and was the first restaurant in Uppsala to receive the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. This certification is awarded to restaurants that have made sustainability a part of every aspect of their operations – offering organic, KRAV-certified, and locally produced food; using eco-friendly disposables and cleaning products; sorting waste; and using eco-labelled electricity.
Environmentally Certified Hotels
Uppsala offers a wide range of accommodation options – from major hotel chains to smaller family-run hotels and hostels. In total, the city provides 1,560 hotel rooms and 2,770 beds, with additional options at hostels and campsites. Notably, 80% of Uppsala’s hotels are third-party certified for their environmental performance.
PCO Services
Professional Congress Organizers (PCOs) in Uppsala operate according to an environmental policy with annual sustainability goals. They collaborate with environmentally certified suppliers and caterers who, whenever possible, provide locally produced and organic food and beverages – all in support of sustainable development.
