Uppsala City Garden
In the late 19th century, thanks largely to Governor Robert von Kraemer and the Tree Planting Committee, the beginnings of the beautiful park now known as “Stadsträdgården” – Uppsala’s “city park” – were established.
Open year-round, the park offers many exciting places to explore and fun attractions to enjoy. In spring and summer, it bursts into a spectacular display of blooms as lush greenery unfolds in the grand flowerbeds.
At the heart of a small water lily pond surrounded by perennials lies the Island of Bliss, offering inviting spots to sit and relax. Not far from there, in the central part of the park, you’ll find a large playground filled with fun equipment and activities for visitors with children.
Next to the playground stands the “Gula Villan,” once home to the city gardener and in recent years transformed into a summer café. Here you can sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee, and take in the park’s peaceful atmosphere.
In the southern part of the park lies Parksnäckan, an open-air stage equipped with sound and lighting systems where you can experience a wide range of cultural events. Nearby, you’ll also find a rosarium brimming with rose varieties, along with clematis and perennials.
