Filmstaden Luxe in the center of Uppsala brings a more luxurious cinema experience to Uppsala. Movies are shown in the premium formats IMAX and iSense, and you can cozy up with your popcorn in comfortable recliner armchairs – or even on your own sofa. Good food and drinks, including cocktails, beer and wine, are served in the cinema’s bistro.

Fyrisbiografen opened in 1911 and is one of Sweden’s oldest cinemas. It differed from the “norm” from an early point by showing high-quality artistic European films. Today Fyrisbiografen remains a unique venue that contributes to Uppsala’s reputation as a cultural city. It shows the latest and foremost films from around the world – for all ages. The films often deal with life’s big issues and provoke both discussion and involvement.
The cinema has showings every evening and at weekends. It also hosts regular film festivals, talks with directors and special showings.

Slottsbiografen in Uppsala is one of the country’s oldest preserved cinemas. It was here that the world famous director Ingmar Bergman’s grandmother took the young Ingmar to matinees, where he climbed into the engine room and got to see the projectors that created magic on the silver screen. Today, various special screenings of independent films are given here. Films are also shown here during the annual event Uppsala Short Film Festival.
