The Uppland County Museum

Fasaden på Upplandsmuseet

Discover the vibrant and fascinating cultural history of Uppland.

The county museum of Uppsala displays a permanent exhibition that tells the story of life in Uppland over 5,000 years, from the Stone Age to the present day. With more than 1,000 objects alongside personal stories and destinies, the main exhibition offers a unique and intimate insight into life in Uppsala and Uppland through the ages. In addition to the permanent exhibition, you can explore temporary exhibitions on a wide range of themes, focusing both on Uppland and the wider world. The museum also hosts events, lectures, guided tours, and exciting activities for families with children.

The Uppland County Museum is housed in a former mill from the 1760s, beautifully located on Kvarnholmen by the River Fyris in central Uppsala. At the entrance, you’ll find a museum shop with local products and souvenirs, as well as a small café.
