Finding truly great coffee in a new city can feel both urgent and challenging. But in Uppsala, it’s pure pleasure. Here, tradition and innovation meet in every cup – from historic roasteries to modern micro-cafés. Follow our flavourful walking route and experience Uppsala’s coffee culture for real.
A coffee city for over a century
If you’ve ever visited Uppsala and been offered a drop of java, you’ve probably noticed one particular brand standing out in the city’s cups. Eric Lindvall opened his coffee roastery in 1912, at the corner of Strandbodgatan and Kungsgatan, right next to the train station. Since then, generations of the Lindvall family have refined Lindvalls Kaffe – today, the fifth generation continues the craft at the roastery, which now holds the title of Purveyor to the Royal Court. No wonder Uppsala has such a strong coffee tradition.
