Queens is an exhibition exploring power, identity, and cultural encounters in sixteenth-century Europe. Focusing on two Renaissance queens – Catherine Jagiellon and Barbara Radziwiłł – the exhibition examines female authority, faith, and emotion within a period shaped by political alliances and personal controversy. Historical objects from Swedish and international collections are presented alongside works by contemporary artists, offering new perspectives on the past and present. The exhibition is shown in the authentic settings of Uppsala Castle, where Catherine Jagiellon herself lived and worked for periods of her life.
