Bars and pubs in Uppsala

Alongside Uppsala’s student nations you can find everything from small bars and cosy pubs to modern nightclubs and classic restaurants.

Beer and whisky tasting

If you are looking for a genuine brewery experience, visit Bryggeriet Ångkvarn. While you enjoy something to drink, you can watch the head brewer at work on the next but one batch of beer to be served in the pub. Beer doesn’t come much fresher and more locally-produced than this!

For beer and whisky fans, there are also several British pubs that offer a wide range of drinks and excellent classic pub food. Some of them have up a thousand sorts of beer, twenty beer pumps and several brands of whisky. Two tips are O’Neill’s and the Churchill Arms.

Modern and popular nightclubs

If you’re looking for hot modern pulsing nightclubs, you have quite a few to choose from. Drop in at the Plock tapas bar, where you can order a well-mixed drink, combine your own menu of small dishes and watch people.

The bar at Stationen, inspired by London’s pubs, is a good choice if you want to hang out with fiends and have a bite to eat or a glass or two. The bar’s specialty is gin, with a range of gin cocktails and some not so well known brands.

Visit a hotel bar

The hotel bars in Uppsala have become increasingly popular over the years. Take the elevator up to Miss Voons located in the Elite Hotel Academia’s gold-plated building to enjoy a drink and the amazing view of Uppsala. If high heights are nothing for you then you can go to Clarion Hotel Gillet’s instead. At the bottom you will find The Social Club, the hotel’s Manhattan-inspired bar and restaurant.

Grand Hotell Hörnan has a cosy lobby bar where you can enjoy classic cocktails and drinks in a beautiful hotel atmosphere from 1907.

Picnic at Radisson Blu also has a nice bar, conveniently located near the central station. Along the large glass facade, you can have a drink and socialize both inside the bar and in summer at the outdoor terrace.
