Conductor Mei-Ann Chen is acclaimed for her energy and her dynamic and passionate conducting style. Now, she joins the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra for the first time in a program featuring Swedish 19th-century music by Sweden’s great symphonists, a beloved violin concerto, and a dramatic work from 2013.

Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto was composed in 1878 and is one of the foremost and most beloved violin concertos. Technically challenging for a violinist, it was considered nearly unplayable at the time but has become one of the most cherished violin concertos. In the solo role, we will hear the young Armenian violinist Diana Adamyan, who has quickly gained international recognition as one of the most prominent violinists of her generation. In 2018, Diana won first prize in the Menuhin Competition, after which she received many offers from leading orchestras worldwide
