Sustainable meeting venues
Uppsala Konsert & Kongress is the first venue in Uppsala that has been certified to have the Nordic Swan Eco-label, which means that it meets the Swan’s ambitious criteria. The certification requires a holistic view of the environment in everything from local produce to smart energy use. The Swan label is given to venues that have environmentally adapted their entire operation, which means that they can offer organic, ECO-labeled and locally produced food, that the supplies and cleaning products used are environmentally friendly, that trash is sorted for recycling and that they use environmentally-labeled electricity. Constantly working to reduce their environmental impact is also included.

The new multi-halls at Fyrishov was inaugurated in the autumn of 2013. The facility will continue to work with enhanced environmental focus during the coming year. As a link in the continued development work there is an environmental manager on-site. Fyrishov continuously work to improve energy usage such as presence-controlled lighting, electricity produced with solar panels and environmentally-labeled electricity.

Environmentally Certified Hotels
In Uppsala, most of the major hotel chains as well as smaller family-owned hotels and hostels are environmentally certified. In total, Uppsala offers 1,560 rooms with 2,650 hotel beds, in addition to hostels and camping cabins. The majority of the city’s accommodations are within short walking distance from Uppsalas travel center, conference and banquet facilities, shopping and culture, and 80% are environmentally certified by a third party.
