Parksnäckan, located in Stadsträdgården, is one of Uppsala’s most beloved summer venues. The concert series starts in June but reaches its peak in July, with performances several times a week! From pop and metal to jazz and folk music, both international superstars and local artists take the stage. The cozy atmosphere and leafy surroundings make these musical experiences extra special. 2. Celebrate National Beer Day with a Local Brew
Did you know July 16th is Beer Day? Celebrate with a super-local craft beer from Ångkvarn in Uppsala! This brewery produces beer on-site in its microbrewery, allowing you to see the brewing process right behind the bar. Ångkvarn also boasts a popular, sunny patio right by Fyrisån, perfect for enjoying your drink.
3. Meet Peter No-Tail in Stadsträdgården or Pelleparken
Peter No-Tail, Uppsala’s most beloved literary cat, and his friend Maya Cream-Nose make summer appearances in Stadsträdgården and Pelleparken to meet kids and families. During July, meet and greet sessions allow fans to say hello, take pictures, and hear about their adventures. A charming activity for young visitors and locals alike. 4. Enjoy Free Summer Theater
While Uppsala Stadsteater is on summer break, its popular Scensommar program comes alive in Gottsunda. A large theater tent hosts both children’s shows and modern takes on classic plays. The performances are free, but you’ll need to reserve tickets in advance – and Scensommar is a highly popular event, so book early! Most shows are in Swedish, but sometimes this stage offers for example circus performances where language barriers are not a problem.
5. Cool Down with Artisan Ice Cream or Gelato

6. Take a Ride on Lennakatten
Step back in time with a nostalgic journey aboard Lennakatten, the charming steam train that’s a true summer favorite. The train takes you through Uppsala’s scenic countryside, perfect for a day trip. Stop for a coffee break, a picnic in the greenery, or some shopping at Thun’s department store in Almunge.
7. Swim and Relax at Uppsala’s Best Spots
Despite being inland, Uppsala has plenty of great places for swimming and outdoor fun. Fyrishov offers an indoor adventure pool for weatherproof swimming, as well as an outdoor pool. At Ulva Kvarn, you’ll find a newly built dock for swimming in Fyrisån, as well as a charming craft village and delicious Neapolitan pizza at Restaurang Ulva. Or explore Wik’s swimming area, complete with grassy picnic spots, a summer café, and even a medieval castle!
